To believe in Him
John 6:28-29 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." Many a times, we hope that we can really experience God by seeing Him, sensing Him or hearing Him in our daily life. It's hard to believe in a God whom we only know in our mind. We wish to have the real experience of Him. Seeing a miracle, or hearing God speaks will make us believe in Him? Jesus said to the crowd whom he had fed and saw the miracle (John 6:1-24, Jesus feeds the five thousand), "you have seen me and still you do not believe" (John 6:36). Yes, we can see miracles, however, will these make us believe in Jesus? Believing is putting our trust in Jesus by commiting our heart, our mind and our strength to Him and it is demonstrated through our action. We want to give our best to Him. Some young persons have shown their faith by believing that God will help them to do well in the things they have set their mind on. They want to give God the glory. During the process, they might face difficulties, yet they do not give up, they try again and ask God for strength to complete the task. What they have in mind is to do it well for God, and not for man. They give all glory to God for seeing them through. We live by faith, and not by sight. When we believe in God, our heart must be there. |
